Job Descripion

This position performs Accounts Payable/Receivable functions to meet corporate and department needs. Will assists and support the accounting team with financial, clerical, and administrative services to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate payment of accounts, goods and/or services purchased by the Company. S/he is responsible for ensuring that invoices are correct and following proper accounting procedures/principles.

Job Title: Accounting Assistant 

Schedule: 7:00am - 4:00pm (Monday - Friday)  Full Time

Pay Range: $20-22/hr. (depending on experience)

Essential Job Functions:

Duties and responsibilities

  • Review invoices for approval and supporting documentation.
  • Process invoices for payment by matching receiving documents with the invoice.
  • Enter invoices into software system (Sage50); review edits for any errors and make corrections.
  • Research payable issues and contact appropriate parties for resolution and correct any discrepancies.
  • Provide daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly reports and assist in monthly closing.
  • Ensure all invoices, inventory, and company expenses are entered and approved for month-end close and year-end close.
  • Continually thinks of ways to improve department efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Complies with company policies.
  • Provides back up and cross-trains with other staff.
  • Assists with collections, and submitting funding.
  • Support with general office duties and special projects
  • Routine customer service support with receivables and payables
  • Create and prepare spreadsheets
  • Communicate in person and through correspondence with high professionalism to vendors, customers, and senior leadership
  • All other duties as assigned

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Prefer an Associates degree in Accounting, Finance or related business field.
  • Working knowledge of Sage 50
  • Minimum of 3 years in a manufacturing environment (preferred)
  • 3 years experience working in accounting field (preferred)
  • Clerical experience and organizational skills required
  • Strong and professional communication via email and telephone
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction and as part of a team with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
  • Self-starter and ability work independently
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and strong attention to detail skills. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs

Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 to $22.00 per HOUR
